Best Practices for Getting Recruited
The question that is always on the minds of athletes is what is the best way for me to get to the next level? The answer comes with four best practices.
1. Focus in the Classroom
Schools are interested in your talent athletically, but they are also very interested in your abilities academically. Focusing on your grades is crucial to get recruited at the next level. Good grades highlight leadership, hard work, determination and intelligence. Proving yourself in class helps coaches know you are willing to put in all work necessary to prove yourself on the field.
2. Eat Right
Take care of your body. In high school it is easy to have the tendency to enjoy a constant habit of pop, sweets, and fast food. Push those out of your diet. A good diet will make you more energetic, alert, and more physically fit. If you clean up your diet, you will see a noticeable increase in your performance athletically.
3. Exposure
You can be the best athlete in the world, but if you don’t have anyone watching you play, you won’t get to the next level. Set yourself for success by doing all you can to garner looks from colleges and universities. Joining Elite Performance Scouting is a great first step, but don’t stop there. Sign up for combines and utilize websites like Hudl to get your name out on the market.
4. Stay Focused
Many people talk about getting recruited, but don’t stay focused on putting the effort forth to accomplishing their goal. Everyday works towards bettering yourself in some way, and think about what you can do to make your talent well known.
